Synopsis
Towards the end of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, just before the signing of the Dayton Peace Agreement, a group of boys, childhood friends from the neighborhood, are left to fend for themselves on the streets. With a lack of parental authority, consumed by the daily struggle for survival, the boys form a gang with a clear hierarchy and rules. "HORDA" takes us on an immersive journey through the chaos of these turbulent times, where survival becomes paramount and innocence is only a distant memory.
Amidst this tumultuous setting, we follow the story of Lazar, a newcomer to the group who has recently arrived in a refugee column. As he attempts to find his place within the gang, Lazar is confronted with numerous challenges, pushing him to confront the toughest moments of his young life. Unexpectedly, love blooms as he falls for Mirela, who is preparing to leave for Sweden with her family.
Tensions escalate as Slavko, the group's leader, grapples with his anger and insecurities, imposing tasks that the others must unquestionably fulfill. Struggling with a sense of inferiority and harboring resentment towards his father, who hides in secret to avoid going to the front, Slavko makes poor decisions that lead him to ruin and abruptly end his dreams of escaping to the Montenegrin seaside.
Meanwhile, Mario harbors hidden desires to assume the role of the leader, while Srđan, Miloš, and Nikola strive to preserve their place within the gang, engaging in street battles as they navigate their personal fears and dreams.
Planned actions, such as stealing car batteries, gas, antennas, and collecting tobacco from cigarette butts, expose them to an unhealthy and chaotic environment, where they oscillate between youthful recklessness and the weight of their choices.
